I’m Christin!

Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate, Certified Life Coach, Birth and End-of-Life Doula

Much has led to the development of who I am today, both personally and professionally. Below are some of the most important of these things, which I am pleased to share with you as your potential therapist and collaborative partner along the path of healing and personal growth!

Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go. They merely determine where you start. –Dr. Nido R. Qubein

  • My undergrad is in Psychology, I am certified as a professional life coach through Coach Training Alliance, and my MS is in Mental Health Counseling. Since 2012, I have worked in addictions settings, in private practice, and as a school counselor, as well as a personal life coach for individuals.
  • I’m a firm believer in expressive therapies and appreciate integrating them when appropriate! Music, movement, story, and art shape our lives and can be invaluable in shaping your treatment when they are embraced with curiosity and an open mind.
  • Social, sexual, and racial identity is a welcome topic here. I identify as a white, bisexual, cis-gendered woman in an ethically non-monogamous relationship. You are invited to share your identity to the extent that you’re comfortable doing so in your sessions.
  • I gave birth to my daughter shortly after I turned 16 and thought my prospects were limited as a result. Proving myself wrong has been the journey of a lifetime!
  • I’ve used bullet points because I have ADHD, and bullet points are easier to process for people who have executive functioning challenges.
  • My favorite clients are expressive, creative, outside-the-box thinkers who enjoy approaches that can be tailored to their unique expressions and challenges, whatever they may be.
  • I am honored each time a client trusts me to hold space for their trauma. The therapeutic bond between my clients and myself is both sacred and professional.
  • I work from an Integrative model that allows for flexibility and intuition while being firmly grounded in an orientation that is both evidence-based and innovative (ACT).
  • I am trained in No One Dies Alone (NODA), Threshold Singers, and as an end-of-life doula (emotional support) through INELDA (International End of Life Doula Association).
  • My training as a birth doula and subsequent training in birth trauma and perinatal support was completed in 2019 and 2020 through DONA and Birth Trauma Support Center, where I am listed as a recommended provider.
  • I am currently pursuing accreditation as an ADHD Coach through Mentor Coach, a PAAC Accredited ADHD Coach Training Program.
  • A trauma-informed approach to therapy invites you in and holds you in a safe container.
  • I elicit and welcome feedback into what is working for you and what isn’t as a necessary part of our work together. We use this to adapt and shape your treatment plan as needed and to make any repairs that we might need to make along the way. It is how we keep the therapeutic relationship vibrant, strong, and healthy!

My Philosophy of Healing in ACTion: How We Go Where We Grow

It is my firm belief that one size does not fit all when it comes to therapy and that your therapy plan should adapt along with you. That’s why from the very beginning of our time together, it’s important to me to take the time to ensure that we are “a good fit” and that I’m the best therapist to meet your needs. We start with a complimentary 30-minute discussion of your needs and strengths, your resources, and your hopes. Assuming we’re a match, we begin tailoring your treatment plan immediately and continue to do so throughout our time together. We’ll also plant the seeds for a collaborative, dynamic therapeutic alliance in which your feedback is openly elicited and encouraged, and which is supported by trust, confidentiality, and authentic connection. This relationship provides the container in which healing takes root.

We will explore from a holistic place that addresses physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of problems and solutions. I have found that when one is impacted, the others often follow. In this way, we embrace “whole person health,” rather than simply addressing symptoms.

Although I apply an Integrative model of therapy that allows for flexibility and intuition, it is equally important to me that your treatment is based in what I know to be helpful. Thus, much of our work together will be based on the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (or ACT). ACT is a well-researched, highly credible orientation that essentially orients clients toward accepting what is out of their control and committing to meaningful, enriching action. For more information on ACT, click here

You can expect me to support you in healing, finding joy, and exploring your natural creativity and intuition using integrative, intuitive techniques grounded in research. You can also expect outside of the box thinking and a collaborative, team approach that treats you as a participant in your own treatment planning. I serve as a navigator and guide, but YOU are the expert of your own life, and you steer the ship! You ultimately have the final say in the territory through which we wander, and I am honored to be your companion throughout the journey!

I help people become more truly themselves!

"I felt hope for the first time in a long time after the first time we talked...."

"I'm picky about therapists, but this one really gets it."

"Chris walked with me through the sudden loss of my life partner, and resultant PTSD with dissociative episodes. She normalized the experiences I was having while I was grieving, and helped me reintegrate my grieving self into what became my new normal, which no longer includes dissociative episodes. I attribute my ability to return to a full level of functioning to our work together, starting in the immediate aftermath of my loss.

"I thought I was going to talk to someone about my anxiety and insomnia, but instead, we built a plan that changed my whole life for the better. Now I feel like I'm living the life I was supposed to be living all along."
